About the Title
Psalm 139 has long been one of my favorite Bible passages because of the intimate relationship it describes between God and each individual human being. It ends with the statement, "Search me, O God, and know my heart..." (v. 23). What an openness toward God is conveyed by that request. As I thought about the title for this blog, it occurred to me that it is the product of my lifelong effort to know God's heart. The intimacy of Psalm 139 goes both directions. We miss the point if we view Scripture as primarily a plan for godly living, or worse yet, as a set of rules we're required to follow. If we look for it, every Scripture can tell us something about the heart of God. More than anything else, I believe God wants us to understand and share in the things closest to His heart.
